KeenMind is the Focus of Attention in New Trial

22 January 2015

A new Victorian trial will investigate the effects of KeenMind a unique extract of Bacopa (Bacopa monnieri) CDRI 08 on hyperactivity, inattention and impulsivity in boys.

PhD candidate James Kean at Swinburne University’s Centre For Human Psychopharmacology in Victoria will investigate whether CDRI 08 may help with the symptoms of inattention and hyperactivity in boys aged between 6 and 14 years of age.

Study participants will sit tests measuring their IQ, memory, attention, reaction time, inhibition and behaviour.

Over 14 weeks, they will be given the herbal extract CDRI 08, sold as KeenMind, and parents will monitor their children's behaviour.

Professor Con Stough, from Swinburne's Centre for Human Psychopharmacology, said studies have shown that the extract has antioxidant properties, effects on inflammatory markers, and has neuroprotective effects on the brain that may help improve memory and concentration.
